A nonprofit for
open money.
The Foundation stewards Moony as a public good: advancing education, supporting communities worldwide, and keeping the network open and accessible to all.

Expanding access to modern financial rails.
Access is inclusion. Roughly 1.4 billion adults have no bank account, not for lack of effort but because the legacy financial system was never built for them. Open money asks no permission: with nothing but a phone, anyone can send, save and be paid on the same rails as everyone else.
Money must be sound.
When money can be printed at will, savings quietly lose value: a tax no one votes on, paid hardest by those with the least.
Money must be permissionless.
Most money moves only with permission: accounts can be frozen or closed with little recourse, often without explanation.
Money must be a public good.
The economy moved online and assumed everyone could follow. Without a bank account, whole communities were left out.

Aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Open money advances five of the seventeen goals: no poverty, quality education, decent work and economic growth, resilient infrastructure, and reduced inequalities.
Aligned in mission; not affiliated with or endorsed by the United Nations.Money is infrastructure. Like the open web, it works best when it belongs to everyone.
We believe open money enables financial inclusion and access on a scale traditional systems never reached. The Foundation exists to advance that promise: keeping the network open and helping communities everywhere put it to work.
We help open money grow.
The Foundation backs the people building and spreading Moony in four concrete ways: education, tools for chapters, connection across the network, and funding.
We spread literacy
Sound money only helps people who understand it. We make open money easy to learn.
- Explainers & how-it-works guides
- Curriculum for chapters & schools
- Docs translated for local communities
We equip chapters
Anyone can start a chapter, and no one starts from scratch: we supply what a new chapter needs.
- Brand & logo assets
- Merchant QR & acceptance kits
- Playbooks, flyers & talking points
We connect the network
A movement grows faster when people can find each other. We link chapters and share what works.
- A global directory of chapters
- Introductions between organizers
- Shared playbooks of what works
Money that belongs to everyone should be built by many hands. Our programs back the people building it: no equity taken, no strings attached.

The Foundation keeps no allocation of Moony’s supply. It is supported by the community through donations, and publishes what it raises and spends each year.

If you’d like to support the mission, donations of any size fund education, chapters and community programs. Every contribution is publicly accounted for.

Our name flew aboard Artemis II.
Through NASA’s Send Your Name with Artemis campaign, the Foundation’s name was carried on an SD card aboard Orion: a crewed journey around the Moon and back, some 685,000 miles. On the day Moony was revealed to the world, the name was rounding the Moon.
